During our initial years in Japan, I was involved in the development of the Japanese Continental Singers ministry and the layout and publication of the Exalt Him Japanese/English songbook. I served as a bilingual background vocalist on four recordings from 1988 to 2002: The Japanese Continentals (Song-Rise), One Voice (Gospel Music Express), Dickens Christmas Carolers (Song-Rise), and The Caroling Collection (self-released). I produced and published The Caroling Collection Songbook in Japanese and English in 2000.
I continued in music and worship ministry into the early 2000’s, and saw these ministries passed into the hands of Japanese partners. In 2005 I was appointed managing editor of Japan Harvest magazine, published by the Japan Evangelical Missionary Association (JEMA). Today Barbara and I focus our ministries on providing resources to encourage, inspire, and equip missionaries and Asian leaders to multiply disciples with a strong biblical Christian worldview, both through print and digital resources.
Although music ministry is no longer a part of my ministry assignment, I still enjoy playing one or more of my saxes (soprano, alto, and tenor) in worship bands whenever possible.
